FAQ
AVAILABLE AT FDFMOD FORUMS
INSTALLATION / START-UP
Q: What version of OFP do I need?
A: 1.96. Try with -nomap parameter if experiencing
video/memory errors!
Q: Does this mod alter my original OFP files? Do I
have to reinstall the game?
A: No.
Q: How do I start my normal OFP game without using
FDFMOD?
A: Just use your 'FlashpointResistance.exe' file or
it's shortcut as usual.
Q: How do I run mods like eg. 'Hisky Hi-res Sky' mod
with the FDF Mod?
A: Add '-mod=hisky' to the end of FDFmod.exe shortcut's
'Target' field.
If you want to run several other mods just
add semicolon '-mod=hisky;MyMod;Mymod2'
Some mods can conflict with FDFMOD and cause
random symptoms.
Q: I want to uninstall this mod, how do I do it?
A: Just delete 'finmod' folder from your Operation
Flashpoint folder.
Q: I get green/abnormal screen when launching FDFMOD
A: Set Hardware T&L on from FlashPointPreferences.exe
Q: FDFMOD is whining something about fin_officer?
A: Remove all old (also obsolete now) addons with kyl_
or fin_ prefix.
Actually this points especially to Kyl_Fin.pbo
but remove those others too since they are obsolete.
Q: I removed O.pbo and now FDF Mod seems to be working...
A: No! DO NOT delete or overwrite any files. Please
install FDF Mod as described in readme.
GAMEPLAY / MULTIPLAYER
Q: I can't pick up deployable weapons such as AGS-17,
NSV, M2
A: Check section "NOTES ABOUT DEPLOYABLE WEAPONS"
below
Q: AI doesn't seem to step on tripwires
A: This can't be fixed as AI automatically avoids objects
Q: What purpose does the LV 217 radio serve?
A: Depends how it is implemented in the mission. See
OFP Command Reference section 'Event handlers' for more information.
Available from http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ or http://www.ofpec.com/
Q: In the mod, my guy still speaks english, that normal?
A1: Change it from "player profile" at main
menu.
A2: Of course it's normal, you have not chosen a finnish
voice for yourself
Q: AI controlled planes are acting weird at FDF: Karjala's
air field?
A: Yes. That's known bug... or should we call it feature
MISCELLANEOUS ISSUES
Q: What the ¤%#& is F-18 Hornet ?! It's
F/A-18 Hornet!!
A: The F-18 Hornet is the Finnish Air Force variant
of the McDonnell Douglas/Boeing F/A-18 Hornet multi-role attack
and fighter aircraft. It lacks certain avionics, target acquisition
and weapon control features, limiting its capability to engage
surface targets.
The primary reason for the lack of ground attack features
in the aircraft is the semantic meaning of the word "attack".
For example, Finland has Defence Forces, not an army -- even
the possibility of Finland ever attacking its neighbors is
denied on all levels. This made the policy decision to purchase
attack aircraft impossible in the nineties aftermath of finlandization,
leading to factory reconfiguration of the F/A-18 to the F-18
variant.

Q: No attack helos?!
A: That's correct. No attack helos.
Q: Tell me about roles of Finnish units?
A: Official
FDF Site might also have useful information.
USING SANLA MESSAGING DEVICE
------------
You can use it by inserting artillery object in mission editor.
It can be found from "EMPTY -> OBJECTS (Finnish Defence
Forces)" ->
Mortar squad, medium artillery and heavy artillery.
After you've placed one of these objects to map, you can
order fire by using action menu from any Finnish radist that
has LV 217 "Venttiseiska" field radio.
Now you should see the Sanla in front of you. Then you can
just enter the message like this:
Ha86 200 10
<coordinates> <dispersion in meter> <amount
of shots>
and press the "lähetä" button in the lower
right corner of the Sanla device and off you go.
Replies from artillery:
Tykistö valmis, <number> ammusta. - Artillery ready,
<number> shots left.
<coordinates>, hajoitus <number> metriä,
<number> laukausta OK -
<coordinates>, dispersion <number> meteres, <number>
shots OK
Syntaksi virheellinen, toista - Syntax error, repeat the message
Tykistö ei käytettävissä - Artillery not
available.
Tykistön ammukset lopussa - Artillery is out of ammunition.
NOTES ABOUT DEPLOYABLE WEAPONS
------------
- Before disassembling/deploying it may take few seconds for
the deployment script to activate
- The 'gun' part of the weapon takes 1 heavy weapon slot from
inventory, so does the tripod part
- Each magazine/missile takes 1 ammo slot from inventory,
so drop your unnecessary possessions in order
to carry max amount of ammo
- Only the player who carries the 'Gun' part of the weapon
is able to carry the magazines for that weapon
- Due to OFP's ammo handling, deployable weapons cannot be
moved while there is ammo in the clip. Clip has
to be FULL or EMPTY until the system can be moved again.
